HOT Word Form Concordance

This resource was built from the "Concordance to the Tanakh" (HOTC) module, which is a modules based on Strong's Hebrew numbering system. Under each Hebrew Lemma, the various word forms of that particular lemma that occur in the Hebrew OT are listed, as well verse references for each occurance of that form in the Hebrew OT.

This module recompiled that same information, by extracting each individual word form and accompanying verse references from the Strongs' entries, and producing a new dictionary that looks up the specific Hebrew word forms rather than the Stong's numbers. The result is that one came look up a Hebrew word in this dictionary simply by clicking on the Hebrew word in the Bible view.

In addition, the information from Strong's dictionary related to the lemma for each Hebrew word form has been added at the top of the module.

The advantage of this module is that it allow one to directly lookup words in the Hebrew OT, find the meaning of those words, and find a list of every other verse in the HOT that uses that particular word form.

MAJOR UPDATE 2.0 - Finally fixed broken reference links, and made major formatting changes.
(אבת problem has been fixed)

What's New in Version 2.0 (See full changelog)

  • This is a major update of the previous module.
  • All incorrect, broken Scripture references cause by difference versification between the HOT and the KJV have been fixed (literally 10s of thousands of corrections)
  • In addition, many improvements in formatting have been made which should make the module much easier to use.
  • This is the version you want...delete the old version (1.0) and replace it with this one

There's a problem. Youi are referencing Joel 4:13. I don't know how to attach a screenshot, so I guess you'll need to search your text for Joel 4:13 and fix it since that verse does not exist.

Darrel
Thanks for the feedback on the module. You are right of course that there is no Joel 4:13 (or Joel 4:1-12 for that matter :) )

I am aware that there are indeed some inaccurate references in the module (in addition to the one you mentioned), These faulty references were in the source module that I used to created this dictionary (HOTC), and so they were transferred "as is" into this module. I haven't yet found a fasta nd efficient way to eliminate/correct these bad references, especially since it is often difficult to figure out why the bad references are there to begin with. I suppose only the creator of the HOTC module can answer that question.

If I'm able to find a solution, I will post the updated module when it's ready. In the meanwhile, I hope this module can still be of use to you and others.
They are not exactly faulty references, they just aren't KJV versification, but do belong to the WLC. You can see they have been adjusted in the WLC module from theWord site. So they don't need to be removed, you just need to know how to look them up.

Jon
Yeah, you're right Jon. I figured that out this morning (somewhat by accidnt), but it's nice to have it confirmed. I would like to find a way to "fix" it thought, because even though it's still possible to look up the references based on the WLC versification system, see the verses as popups and links. I still haven't figured out the best way to do that though. In BibleWorks there is a mapped list of the verses from the WLC and KJV. If I can figure out how export the list and then do a find/replace in Word, I suppose I could make it work, but that's a lot of "find/replace" searches. I read somewhere that someone had made a macro for multiple find/replace searches, but I can't remember where it was
I will email you a file that is used on Bible alignment and you can see if you can figure anything from that.

Jon
Just as an add-on thought from me - Yes the module is VERY usable and I thank you for putting it together! I will definitely use it as-is, even though I do look forward to the update! :)

Jon, got the map file. Thanks a lot. It saved me a lot of work. I still haven't worked out all the kinks yet, but I'm trying to figure out a way to make the change wholesale with a macro I got for batach processing, but I'm running into trouble with inconsistent formatting (some references have a comma at the end, others don't) and with combined references.

Anyway, hopefully an update will be availible before very long...

Darrel, glad you find it useful...thanks for the encouragement!

The update is was quite a bit of work, but it's finally done, and is availible for download as version 2.0. Please let me know about any problems or broken references you encounter.
MAJOR UPDATE!!! (Version 2.0)
אבת does not have popups on the verse refs. Also in same topic the popup for H1 is not working. (I probably found the only such issue knowing me)
