The text of this book was originally written for two undergraduate level course in “Biblical Hebrew” and “Biblical Greek” respectively for Nations University (http://www.nationsu.edu) and later developed further into a textbook published by Viademica Publishers in Berlin, Germany (2009). The first part of this book covers the course material for Biblical Hebrew with all course modules and course module exams. The second part covers the same for Biblical Greek. Some of the later course modules cover special aspects of text witnesses and textual transmission of original Biblical manuscripts as well as practice modules on working with texts in the original Biblical languages.

This package also includes some additional material on reading practice that originally were not part of the book publication but were additionally developed for use in class when teaching these courses at seminaries in Africa and elsewhere. They contain portions of Biblical text (for Hebrew it is Genesis 1, for New Testament Greek it is John 1) with sound files embedded so that students can practice reading the Hebrew or Greek script simultaneously while reading and listening to the text being read aloud. Note that this textbook is an introduction and is not intended as a substitute for a solid textbook covering Biblical Hebrew or Greek in depth.
