A Book and Commentary
This book and commentary module introduces the Documentary Hypothesis, a method of analyzing the Hebrew Bible by its component sources, and then investigates the identity of the 'J' source with a surprising result. The commentary portion identifies the various sources according to various authorities on the subject.
"Many books about sources in the Old Testament are intended to be read by scholars. This book is written to be appreciated by those with no previous knowledge of source analysis, as well as by those familiar with the field. Instead of specialized analysis in a narrow range of studies, Mr. Shafer presents an overview of the big picture, resulting in a sweeping account of sources ranging from Genesis through Job, as well as Jeremiah and Lamentations. One of the major results of this process is discovering the identity of the great storyteller of the Old Testament, often known as J."

NOTE: The resource is liberal theology, specifically the documentary hypothesis, which subtly questions the inspiration of parts of the Bible.
