CopyRight Info: This is an orphaned book. I have contacted all proper channels and cannot establish any contact with the rightful heirs. UK has stated as below that if I acknowledge that permission is not received the channels which I have contacted, so that anyone who might want to seek me to obtain permssion I should be ok legally until someone comes forward to take off unless they grant permission This book was orginally published in 1951 by Thomas Nelson Publishers, it has been out of print for 1-4 decades. A New Catholic Comentary on Holy Scripture was published in place in the late 1960s. Father Bernard Orchard the main editor of the original 1951 publication passed away in the 2006 his estate has not responded to the UK copyright office. See below.

Dear Michael,I have not heard anything either. I only have an postal address so there is no way of emailing or telephoning. The best thing I can suggest is that when you publish the works you place a reference to the pieces that you use mentioning that you have made every effort to seek the copyright holder and if any one has any information then you would happily contact the rights holder; this will help protect you legally.

I hope that helpsIsobel Tungatt (Miss)

Dear Mr. Isobel TungattI have not heard anything back concerning Father Bernard Orchard and " A Catholic Commentary on Holy Scripture." It has now been more than a month. A few questions maybe you can try answering 1.When you tried contacting them was it my email, or regular address mail? 2. Can you try contacting them by phone, regular mail and email by all three? 3. Do you have any other means of contacting the parties? I have tried contacting through the Parish which is next to the Abbey which presumably was the residence for Father Bernard Orchard, to no avail. 4. Can you try contacting them again, with a sense of urgency? 5. If no one responds, then this is essentially an orphaned book, if it is not orphaned a long time ago. Can I therefore in good faith having tried all means that I know use this commentary since it is no longer published, and no one is laying claim, and there is no monetary exchange of any kind. I would simply allow people to download the Catholic commentary as a free module part of a free Catholic Softwared Bible study program. Can I post this up on the internent for free acess until someone might say no. I do not want to violate any laws, and I am not trying to scam anyone. It is totally free. It would be a sham to allow such a resource to lye around collecting dust for the next seventy years! Michael Jacques mijac@merr.com 2206 So 74 West Allis, Wi 53219 USA

Any more help and advice would be greatly appreciated... Thanks.....

I am looking for permission to reproduce "A Catholic Commentary On Holy Scripture" to be used as an electronic module book freely given as part of a free computer Bible software program Program via internet connection which is downloadable. If you can help me gain permission for this via email and hard copy mail would be greatly appreaciated and the places or other people to contact regarding obtaining permission. This would be completley free for public use withou any montary gain. I know that this book is out of publication and is my understanding it has not been published in decades, and certainly could benefit X percentage of Catholics by making this available. A Gratis distribution would be appreciated. Copyright info would be part of the module. I am looking to help with putting together as complete as possible of a Catholic Bible study resource as a software program. Right now there is in this package the Douay Rheims Bible, Father George Haydock Commentary from 1800's, Baltimore Catechism, St Thomas Catena, and St Thomas Summa Theologica, I hope that I can add "A Catholic Commentary on Holy Scripture. Thank You Michael Jacques

2 Letters were sent to the Parish office next to the Abby where Father Bernard Orchard resided and no response to the orphaned book.

The below is my contact info for your facilitiesThe monastery was founded in 1897 from Downside as a parish, at the invitation of Cardinal Vaughan, then Archbishop of Westminster. It was canonically erected as a dependent Priory in 1916, with Dom Wulstan Pearson as its first Prior; he became the first Bishop of Lancaster in 1925. In 1947 it became an independent Conventual Priory, and in 1955 it was raised to the status of an Abbey by Pope Pius XII with Dom Charles Pontifex as its first Abbot. A School was started by Dom Sebastian Cave in 1902, and there are now about 600 pupils in the Senior School and 230 boys in the Junior School. The Parish, served from the monastery, is one of the largest in the country. There is guest accommodation for individuals who wish to spend some time apart or share our life, and there is a flourishing group of Oblates.

The parish is served by monks designated by the Abbot of Ealing. The monastery is alongside the Abbey ChurchAlternatively you can write to the Parish office at 2 Marchwood Crescent, Ealing W5 2DZ.parishoffice@ealingabbey.org.uk

I havn't heard anything back. I do not know if you can help see below. Point of clarification. This needs to go to the Abby right next door since the author Father Bernard Shaw is from there and is the author of the book below, and hopefully they would know who to contact in regards to permission.

I know that A Catholic Commentary is no longer published. I believe that this commentary could be put to very good use in being made part of a free Catholic Bible software program available to all on the Internet. So many Catholics have left the faith, the Protestants are leaps and bounds ahead in producing Bible software programs for free and marketing them. Catholics have few resousces available by comparison. A free program making use of older material such as listed below could be a tremendous asset to the Catholic Faith . Can you consider helping.
